USRAH 2

  Farewell Usrah ended and my biggest takeaway is the insights I got from my fellow classmates and team members. I enjoyed the discussions had with the class and managed to meet some new friends. I think one beautiful think I learnt from my classmates is that everyone has something to share and something only they are good at. It's nice to see that as I look at that and try to take something from each person. Of course, it would never be the same as the original, but it would definitely help build character. That being said, one small area of improvement I would have for this Usrah is that I would have liked if we had a better, cleaner classroom. On the first day of class I noticed a cockroach and that made me not able to focus.   Overall, our facilitator Sister Nuradlina was amazing, I appreciated all her efforts and discussions during this Usrah

Group Project The topic of our group project was about Friendliness and the wisdom behind friendliness in Islam. We decided to approach this topic by having a roleplay about how people can sometimes overlook boundaries in the name of being friendly and a conclusion where we explained our points and covered a larger scope of what friendliness is. Collaborative Work I was blessed to have really co-operative members that helped make this our presentation a success. It started with the chats where we divided the work and one of the sisters came up with the script. Then we met at the library to practice the speech and finetune it. Then, we worked on the poster together. Individual Work The poster was where most of the individual work lied. My portion was to bring out the Quranic Verse or hadith about friendliness.   Like a wild flower in a foreign land, sometimes I feel like I don’t belong here, or anywhere for that matter. Asslaam Alykum Warahamtullahi Wabarakatuhu my dear readers, I am Aisha Adesina, a second year student in the Bachelor of Islamic Finance program. On the 28th of October 2023, I moved to Malaysia from Saudi Arabia to study in IIUM. Previously, I lived in Saudi for 17 years and although I’m from Nigeria, I’ve only been there twice. My ambition in life is to be an Islamic finance expert and a writer. One of my fears of coming to Malaysia was that I’d find it hard to settle in. However, the more I spent time here, interacting with my professors and fellow students, the more I felt at home. And like a wild flower, I felt like I was blossoming and blooming in the garden of knowledge and virtue. Join me on my journey of Usrah 2 Classes.
